Whether you’re a mom of one, two, or more, your know just how tough it is to get your little ones up and out of the door in time for school. Especially after the blissfully long vacation, it’ll most likely be impossible to finish the morning routine without any shouting or meltdowns.

That’s where we jump in with some kickass parenting tips for you to lock down a smooth morning routine.

Ready? Let’s jump right in.

1. Prep, Prep, Prep

If you leave everything for the morning, you’ll find yourself scrambling around, feeling like time is running against you. The best thing is to get whatever’s possible ready the evening or night prior. For example, get the school bags packed and ready. Get the lunches packed and ready too, so you can leave the mornings solely to focus on getting the kids ready. Keeping a whiteboard in the kitchen would be helpful as well, with to-dos for the kids listed down so you don’t forget anything.

2. Keep the Action in One Zone

If you let your kids wander out of your sight, you’re bound to lose track of them, especially if you have more than one. A good way around this making sure they get ready where you can keep a close eye on them. For instance, if you have a two-floor house, make sure their essentials like toothbrushes, facewash, and sunscreen are kept in the lower floor’s bathroom. Last-minute essentials like outdoor gear and masks can be kept near the door to grab and go.

3. Check-in with Your Kids

After the pandemic-forced break from school life, your kids are definitely going to be feeling strongly about the return to school. While some might be excited, others would probably be anxiety-ridden and worried they won’t be able to perform well. As a parent, you need to sit them down at a comfortable time and hear them out. This is a great time to explain that life is all about changes and how people must keep moving forward.

Bottom Line

Parenting is anything but easy. Even people without kids can vouch for that. But you mustn’t forget that it is you who must give direction to your child, especially at a young age. And that starts with instilling disciple.
